  • Medical diseases like cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and neurological diseases can affect sex drive
  • Certain prescription drugs, especially antidepressants have side effects that can cause low sex drive
  • Life habits like smoking, drinking, and drug abuse can cause low sex drive or dull arousal.
  • Fatigue and exhaustion from daily activities and work can also play a role in low sex drive.

b. Hormonal changes

Changes in hormone levels may alter your desire for sex in cases such as

  • Drugs such as flibanserin (Addyi) and bremelanotide (Vyleesi)

Lifestyle changes could also help treat low sex drive and improve libido in older women. They include

  • Exercising regularly
  • Settling aside time for intimacy
  • Sexual experimentation such as trying new sex styles, role-playing, sex toys, etc.
  • Avoid abusing substances that affect sex drives like drugs and alcohol
